Punjab Govt Sets Deadline to Complete Corruption Inquiries Across Departments

The Punjab government has taken a firm stance against corruption by directing all provincial departments to complete corruption inquiries against their employees within three months. The decision was announced by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz while chairing a high-level Punjab cabinet meeting on Monday.

The chief minister emphasized the importance of complete transparency in all departmental projects, making it clear that delays in accountability will not be tolerated. Officials were instructed to ensure fair, timely, and transparent investigations to strengthen public trust in government institutions.

Major Development Projects Approved

During the meeting, the cabinet approved the establishment of Punjab’s second-largest IT city in Rawalpindi, aimed at boosting the province’s digital economy. Alongside this initiative, the government set an ambitious target to train 2,300 young people as skilled professionals within one year, focusing on modern and in-demand technologies.

Traffic Reforms and Incentives for Wardens

To improve road safety, the cabinet approved the installation of modern traffic signals and mandatory zebra crossings on all roads. In a move to ensure strict enforcement, traffic wardens who demonstrate exceptional performance in implementing traffic laws will receive a cash reward of Rs. 100,000.

Education System Reforms and Teacher Incentives

The cabinet also approved the establishment of Punjab’s first independent examination authority, aimed at eliminating irregularities and aligning the examination system with international standards. In another major relief step, the head teacher allowance for government schools was increased dramatically from Rs. 500 to Rs. 10,000, a move welcomed by the education sector.

Livestock Exports and Skill Development

To promote economic growth, the cabinet set targets to increase cattle exports through the formation of a dedicated livestock company. It also approved the filling of vacant posts in the Structure Planning Unit of the Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Department, strengthening workforce planning and training initiatives.

These wide-ranging decisions highlight the Punjab government’s focus on accountability, youth empowerment, digital growth, and public safety, positioning the province for long-term institutional reforms.
